Christmas gift guide for Catholics 2020

It’s that time of year again for another Christmas gift guide for Catholics, as we enter Advent and anticipate the Christmas season to celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus.

First and foremost, we want to make sure we remember the “reason for the season”, which is celebrating the incarnation and Jesus coming to save us, to reconcile us to God, the Father.

So let’s begin!

Saint Subscription Box from Saint of the Month

Help someone on your list learn more about the saints (and become one!) with a monthly subscription box.

Each month, receive a box focused on a particular saint. Inside the box, you’ll receive a weekly challenge that will help you grow in holiness, along with a gift for that week. Each challenge and gift are centered around the theme of the saint for the month.

I like this subscription box because the focus is all about becoming a saint, too. While learning about the saints, the challenges and items are helping to form the recipient in virtue and holiness.

Some examples of gifts that are included in boxes are anything that relates to the saint which includes home décor such as paintings, coasters, coffee table items, or devotional gifts such as statues, candles, bibles and journals. These gifts usually relate to the saint or the goal of the week. You may get a gift of a book the saint wrote or a virtue they are known for.

The subscription is $31.99 a month.

You can also buy select boxes from previous months.

Use the promo code SAINT for 10% off til December 31, 2020.

Music from The Thirsting

For the person on your list who loves music, The Thirsting is a Catholic rock band.

But this isn’t any rock music. In their music, The Thirsting proclaims the truths of the Catholic faith.

Their mission is “to inspire souls to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ in the Eucharist”.

The Thirsting is a live touring band and known for high energy shows with a powerful Catholic message.

They have even played at World Youth Day! (In case you don’t know, that’s a global gathering of Catholic youth, with an estimated 700,000 attending last year’s Mass, so it’s kind of a big deal.)

I came across The Thirsting and was instantly captivated.

I received their cd’s as a birthday gift and it has become one of my favorite albums (which says a lot if you know me and my love for Matt Maher’s music 😉).

The sound of their music reminds me of a combination of bands such as Relient K, Everyday Sunday, and Green Day.

But the lyrics are totally Catholic and will draw you in.

So if you know someone on your list who likes rock music, they’re sure to like this combo set of 3 albums by The Thirsting for $19.95.

Subscription from Letters from the Saints

This is another gift that gives all year ‘round. With a monthly subscription for Letters from the Saints, they will send a letter every week in the mail.

Enjoy the anticipation of receiving a real letter that was actually written by a saint. The letters are reproductions of actual letters that were written to family, friends, superiors, and spiritual directors.

It will allow the recipient to enter into the saints’ lives through their own words. It lets the reader share in the joys and struggles of their lives while seeing how they lived a life of faith amidst the challenges of daily life.

The saints were regular people, like us, who went through good times and bad, but were able to live a holy life through it all.

The letters show us those aspects of the saints’ lives while providing inspiration, advice, and encouragement.

I think that’s something we could all use! Especially after 2020, am I right?

It’s time to get more than bills and junk mail in your mailbox. Look forward to opening the mail with a letter that will help you grow in your faith and help to increase devotion to the saints.

The letters are printed on quality parchment paper. Each month has a theme.

Use promo code SAVE10FOR2 for 10% off for two months on any subscription to the weekly letters. The code is good through the end of the year.

Kitchen Rosary from Archangel Outfitters

The abacus or kitchen rosary is gaining in popularity. These kitchen rosaries are handmade by our team here at Archangel Outfitters and are new to our shop.

Add some spirituality to any room. The kitchen rosary helps you to “pray without ceasing”, as Saint Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

It is basically a rosary on a stand. Use these rosary beads to pray the rosary throughout the day or while you are cooking.

Since it is always out and present in your home, it encourages you to pray each time you walk past it.

Move the beads along the wire just like you would hold the rosary beads in your hand to keep track of which prayer you are on.

This kitchen rosary also features a handpainted watercolor picture with the Hail Mary text added on top.

This is a great gift for any home, apartment, office, or even classroom.

It also adds some nice spiritual décor when not in use!

Board Game from The Catholic Card Game

With everyone still spending a lot of time being stuck at home, this gift is great for anyone. Board games are very popular right now.

This card game is totally Catholic, easy to play, and hilarious.

The game is a prompt and answer style and is played by each player having a hand of cards with a phrase or “answer”. The judge for the round will draw a card with the prompt for that round. Each player picks a card from their hand that they think the judge will pick to win. The judge picks the winning card and the game continues.

All of the contents on the cards come from our Catholic faith, Tradition, and community.

The whole family will love this game, and when parties are back on, will be a great addition to your party games.

You need just 3 people to play, and can play with 10+, too.

Play anytime or anywhere.

There are several expansion packs available, so the game is always fresh and new.

The Catholic Card Game starts at $35 without the expansions.

Subscription from Feast Day

Another subscription that has really helped during this pandemic is Feast Day.

Feast Day helps Catholics live liturgically within the home, prayerfully centered around the table.

Each subscription box comes with handpicked foods and devotional items that help prepare you for the liturgical season and feasts.

What’s neat about this is that they “pack a pilgrimage” into your box with foods that Catholics use around the world to celebrate holy days.

Not only does this broaden your Catholic knowledge, it helps you be in solidarity with our brothers and sisters, celebrating feasts in a similar fashion in a fun and new way.

As with most subscription boxes, you can buy the monthly subscription or buy individual boxes. However, the individual boxes are a little different than the boxes you would receive through the subscription.

The subscription boxes contain enough foods for more than one feast, while the individual boxes are for one feast only.

Either way, this is a fun way to help celebrate the feast days with your domestic church inside your home.

You can prepay for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or an entire year.

St. Michael Chaplet Beads from Archangel Outfitters

The Saint Michael Chaplet is an incredible prayer to pray for protection and for your spiritual being.

The chaplet is similar to that of the rosary or chaplet of Divine Mercy, in that you use a set of beads to keep track of the prayers you have prayed.

In this case, the chaplet consists of praying a salutation, one Our Father, and 3 Hail Mary’s for each of the nine choirs of angels. So the St. Michael Chaplet beads are made to accommodate these prayers.

Instead of having 5 decades of 10 beads like a rosary has, these beads have 9 sets of 4 beads, to match the prayers of the St. Michael Chaplet.

These chaplet beads are new to our shop and are hand made using paracord, acrylic beads, and a vintage style bronze St. Michael medal, with the popular barrel knots in between.

This gift helps enable praying, especially for the intercession of Saint Michael and all of the choirs of angels.

Subscription from The Little Catholic Box

If this isn’t the year for subscription boxes, I don’t know what is. But hey, when shopping is limited during a pandemic, having items delivered right to your door is a great option!

The Little Catholic Box is a subscription box geared more towards women. So for the women on your Christmas list, this is a great gift idea.

This box is delivered quarterly instead of monthly. It comes with items that help you celebrate the beauty of the Catholic faith.

The Little Catholic Box is mostly made up of curated items from various Catholic artists, religious orders, and small businesses, so you are getting a good variety in each box, and learning about different Catholic businesses at the same time, that you may not have heard about before.

Besides the quarterly subscription boxes, there are special themed boxes, as well, that you can order for one time occasions. These make perfect gifts.

Order for a college student, an expecting mother, and more.

There are even a few individual items, too.

Headband from Archangel Outfitters

Athleisure is here to stay. At least for the foreseeable future.

This new headband combines perfectly with your favorite t-shirt and sweatpants to just lounge around and keep your hair out of your face.

Or use it while working out to keep the sweat and hair out of your face.

When sports start back up, it also works great for pickup games for any sport, including basketball, racquetball, volleyball, football, etc.

This headband is a unisex style and fit, so it is a great gift for any guy or girl.

Its bright blue color is fashionable and stands out.

The design features the phrase “Totus Tuus”, which is Latin for “Totally Yours”. In his book, True Devotion to Mary, St. Louis de Montfort wrote “Totus tuus ego sum et omnia mea tua sunt…I am totally yours and all that I have is yours.” In this statement, St. Louis conveys his desire to belong completely to God, just like Mary was. He also says that it is “the most perfect of all devotions” since “it conforms, unites and consecrates us most perfectly to Jesus Christ”.

Saint Pope John Paul II also used this phrase, “Totus Tuus”, as his motto during his papacy.

This headband reminds us that, we too, can form a spirituality in our own lives of “Totus Tuus”.

This is a neat way to evangelize or to just enjoy Catholicism while enjoying a cigar.

Not only do these high quality cigars feature our faith, but Regina Cigars supports a faith-based orphanage financially in the countries where the cigars are produced.

By buying these cigars, you are also helping to support children in need.

Book – Drinking with the Saints

Need a drink to go with your cigar? This book is great for anyone who wants to sit back and enjoy a nice drink.

Drinking with the Saints is a combination of the Bartender’s Guide and Lives of the Saints. There are drinks for the different seasons, feasts, and saints’ days of the Church year.

There are more than 300 cocktail recipes, tips for giving toasts, and how to mix the perfect drink.

Besides the drinks, the book also contains a lot of information to learn more about the saints, from popular saints to more obscure saints that you don’t hear a whole lot about.

“Drinking with the Saints becomes an occasion (if not an excuse) to slow one’s pace, savor a drink, and slip not into inebriation but a relaxed look at the saints.” —Father Mitch Pacwa, S.J., host of EWTN Live.

We’ve actually given this book as a gift for someone and they really enjoyed it. Everyone at the party was very interested in it as well!

Candles from Corda Candles

Candles are a nice staple gift. If you need something for one of the ladies on your list, these Corda candles are a good fit.

God gave us our senses to experience his creation. Our sense of smell can lead us to a connection to the saints and our faith.

Corda candle scents themselves are inspired by the saints and other aspects of our faith.

Besides the scent, the light of the candles can also point us to the Light of the World, Jesus.

Each candle is handmade with a unique wax blend made with all natural ingredients.

The candle scent is “noticeable but not overwhelming” and will scent a small to medium sized room.

When burned properly, each candle will last 45+ hours.

These are great to have in the home or office, and are especially great to use in your prayer space.

Women’s Bible Study from Walking with Purpose

Walking with Purpose is a guided Bible Study with workbooks geared for the women in your life. The studies can be started through your parish, your home, or even virtually.

92% of women who have participated in Walking with Purpose recommend it to a friend. That’s a very high rate, so it must be good!

In fact, my wife, Maria, has participated in these studies multiple times and it is the reason it is on this gift guide list because of her recommendation.

There are lots of different studies to choose from, including studies for various age groups of women, from adults, to young adults, to even middle school girls.

Each book/study focuses on a different aspect of our faith and different parts of our journey in life.

A few titles include, Opening Your Heart, Living in the Father’s Love, Keeping in Balance, and Grounded in Hope, to just name a few examples of the studies.

This is a great study to gift to a group of women on your list where they can form their own study group together.
